Free to join, the HubPages writing site is a great place to explore your writing abilities, get to know other writers, read the articles of other writers (and many of these articles are likely to help you with your own writing and with your efforts at trying to make money writing online) and to earn some extra income from your writing efforts. HubPages accepts both factual articles and short stories.
Beginners usually earn very little on HubPages, but if you keep working at it maybe one day you'll earn as much as some of the more successful writers do on HubPages: HubPages Success Stories
Factoidz writing site
Another writing site free to join. You can earn small amounts for activity - for simply uploading a new article. Other earnings come from pageviews of your articles due to Factoidz sharing their site's ad revenue with you. Not really a site for short stories. Factual articles and How To's are the usual type of articles uploaded to Factoidz.
Which site can make you more money? HubPages or Factoidz?
Constant Content
You can sell your articles on Constant Content. Ask for whatever price you want (as long as it's not a whole much more than the next most expensive person or you may never sell any articles!) You can generally ask for more money if you are selling full rights to your article, however you may also want to consider selling some of your articles with usage rights only, because then they may sell over and over again. The Constant Content submission rules are quite strict and you need to be able to write quite well.
